On a lovely, sunny afternoon, Year 6 took part in a practical workshop on basic bike maintenance.  Staff from Halfords came in to demonstrate how to check your bike for problems such as sticking gears, rubbing brake blocks and ensuring your bike is fit for the road.  Being safe on your bike was the key message from Halfords.

Pupils then worked in groups, blowing up tyres (quite literally in Harrison’s case!) with foot pumps, checking for punctures in inner tubes and patching up holes.  Those pupils who had their bikes in school were later given the opportunity to have their bikes checked over by the Halfords guys.

All in all, Year 6 enjoyed an afternoon in the sunshine learning practical skills that they can share with brothers and sisters at home.
